Bentonite is a mineral whose formation is natural. It consists chiefly of crystalline clay minerals belonging to the smectite group, which are hydrous aluminum silicates containing iron and magnesium as well as either sodium or calcium. Though it is found in almost all regions of India but bentonite mined in the areas of Kachch tends to be the best with highest absorbing capacity, and other qualities like strong bonding, decolorizing and swelling.
